The Mason Enterprise Center specializes in small business services, government contracting, international business, entrepreneurship, technology ventures and telework initiatives. The Mason Enterprise Center provides business owners with access to faculty, students, alumni, researchers, information sources, inventions and other resources required to help expand businesses, improve organizations and strengthen the economy. A customized program to assist companies in achieving practical business results in key IT marketplaces worldwide. Program services include consultation, international market planning and business partnerships. The program is customized to prepare and promote companies for the Mentor-Protege Program.

The Mentor-Protègè Program supports a Department of Defense (DoD) program and serves as a vehicle for building long-term business relationships among major DoD contractors and 8(a) small disadvantaged businesses and women-owned small businesses. George Mason University serves as a third party developmental assistance provider to protègè firms in the following areas:

- engineering and technical areas
- training

The Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP) is a Defense Logistics Agency and George Mason University cooperative agreement to provide assistance to increase contracting and sub-contracting activity among small businesses, major prime contractors, and federal, state and local government in this locality. Its services include: counseling on business and proposal development, small business programs, program management and other procurement matters, as well as, market research, outreach and educational programs.
